Camp POWER

Because every kid deserves the chance to just be a kid!

SCROLL DOWN

Camp POWER

Because every kid deserves the chance to just be a kid!

The best one-week camp program in the entire world.

Camp Power provides kids from NYC's most underfunded and underserved neighborhoods with freedom and encouragement that are often lacking in their communities back in the city. Our signature program is a weeklong camp at one of the country's most beautiful camp facilities, providing the summer camp experience to kids who otherwise would never have had the opportunity. The Camp Power experience enriches the mind, exercises the body, and bolsters the soul.

The main goal of camp is to simply let kids be kids for a week because children from these communities are often forced to grow up too fast. Camp takes place in late August so that campers start the school year feeling empowered and beaming with self-confidence. Camp encourages respect for themselves, their peers, and their environment. In addition, we host year-round events for campers such as Thanksgiving feasts, outings to Brooklyn Bowl, Broadway shows, and sporting events to keep the magic alive the other 51 weeks of the year.

In a world where so many of us are angered and confused by the fact that we need to reinforce that these kids lives matter, it is now extra important that we give them a chance to connect with their incredible potential.

Camp Power is made possibly through a partnership with Country Roads Foundation and Roads to Success - two New York City-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting children from the city's most underfunded communities, and leveling the playing field.

Campers

We're slowing down their speed of life...

Campers

We're slowing down their speed of life...

Our campers are 5th through 9th graders (ages 9-15) growing up in neighborhoods such as East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Red Hook, and the Bronx. When you grow up in NYC's toughest neighborhoods, the speed of life tends to be far too fast. Many of our campers are forced to act as one of the adults of the house at such young ages, thrusting them into situations that strip them of a true childhood. They rarely have the opportunity to relax, play and simply be a kid. Camp, then, is their haven. Many of our first-time campers arrive at camp having never seen a lake, forests, or rolling grass hills!

Camp Power helps them realize their potential. Campers include so many future POTUSes, Beyoncés, and Neil De Grasse Tysons...but, first and foremost, future Camp Power staff members to help carry on the tradition of camp.

Volunteers

Superheroes, plain and simple...

Our staff of extraordinary adult volunteers come from all walks of life and serve as positive role models to hundreds of campers every year. Our staff of volunteers includes journalists, photographers, teachers, business executives, entrepreneurs, actors, and lawyers. We’re not afraid to call each and every one of them superheroes. Join us for camp next year and take the best vacation you'll take all year!
